Earth
There is a Need for Education in Environmental Science. The Earth faces environmental dangers including natural disasters, technological devastation and environmental degradation. Environmentalists are frantically searching for ways to solve the never ending influx of ecological and environmental dilemmas, but human persistence to ravage and destroy the planet often wins as nature loses.
We build houses and sprawling commercial complexes at a rate that was never thought possible. Humans pollute and devastate animal habitats on a large scale, yet we expect that the earth to remain pliant for ever.
The Earth needs care and pampering. It is our natural instinct to care for our loved ones, and all humans must now realize that we should treat Mother Earth as we treat our aging parents. The Earth provides us with life, yet we take and give nothing in return except endless pollutants and other nasty contributions. The signs say that our world is breaking down and soon enough, she will let us know that she had enough through natural calamities that just may render her unlivable, yet we will all be left stunned, shocked, and in anguish.
However, there are those who truly care and believe they can make a difference. They belong to small groups and clubs throughout the world often preaching about the higher level of understanding needed to protect our home that has given us life. There is still hope that although few in numbers they will make a difference.
Universities are opening minds by offering programs in environmental science and educational programs are educating students about responsible behaviors. With a great effort of sharing The Need for Education in Environmental Science, We will see the devastating trends reverse as more people understand the value in digging in dirt and playing in water. Touch Tank salutes these environmental ambassadors who are working to reverse the common practices that destroy Earth:

NSTA strongly supports environmental education as a way to instill environmental literacy in our nation’s pre-K–16 students. It should be a part of the school curriculum because student knowledge of environmental concepts establishes a foundation for their future understandings and actions as citizens. Central to environmental literacy is the ability of students to master critical-thinking skills that will prepare them to evaluate issues and make informed decisions regarding stewardship of the planet. The environment also offers a relevant context for the learning and integration of core content knowledge, making it an essential component of a comprehensive science education program.
